GreenEdge Kids Launches Online Clothing Boutique

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GREENEDGE KIDS LAUNCHES ONLINE CLOTHING BOUTIQUE

A Clothing Destination for Eco-Fashionable Boys and Girls, Sizes 2-12…100% Green, 100% Edgy

Green Edge SOLANA BEACH, CA, June 9, 2008 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- GreenEdge Kids is a brand-new online clothing boutique, specializing in boys’ and girls’ eco-fashion. GreenEdge Kids offers a site with easy-to-use navigation and shopping cart; a bright, modern, and fun feel that rivals those of childrenswear moguls; and a substantial selection of designer styles for boys and girls, sizes 2-12. GreenEdge Kids has selected established and emerging lines of eco-fashion designers for children’s clothes that meet the criteria of being both eco-friendly and stylish.

The GreenEdge Kids website not only provides the greenest and trendiest of merchandise, but also explains in a Being Green section why consumers should buy eco-friendly clothing in the first place. A person can Shop by Conscience to search for eco-friendly clothing features like Made in USA or Organic Cotton, or Hemp. GreenEdge Kids is making it easier for busy parents to help their kids “go green” in yet another area of their children’s lives.

Each year, fashion shows in New York City and Los Angeles are showcasing more eco-friendly fashion lines, and childrenswear is no exception. As consumers are made aware of the environmental damage conventional cotton farming wreaks on the environment, a growing number is choosing to make a difference and “go green.” Yet, “we all know parents are busy, and they need eco-friendly shopping to be made easy for them,” says Annie Kaskade, President of GreenEdge Kids. Parents want to do the right thing, but they need to find what they need on one site, and there needs to be a selection that both they and their kids are excited about.”

GreenEdge Kids has chosen to focus on sizes 2-12 because a good selection of 100% eco-friendly clothing for both boys and girls in this size range is just not available anywhere else. Most of the designer eco-friendly lines sold by GreenEdge Kids are also sold at various online and brick-and-mortar boutiques, but not all in one place in a focused eco-fashion context. “We are hitting the ground with more product offerings than any other online eco-friendly kids clothing store, and we are just getting started,” Kaskade promises. “You can expect our product selection to double in Fall 2008, and it will continue to expand with each season as new lines emerge. We have also started our own product line, which currently includes sunscreen lip balm, hats, and t-shirts, and to which we will add several exciting new GreenEdge styles, all made in the USA, for the Fall 2008 season. We are especially excited about the hemp cargo pants for boys and the organic cotton premium denim jeans for boys and girls on the way, because they are the very first of their kind to be made for the 2-12 size range.”

So far, Kaskade reports, the response to GreenEdge Kids has been outstanding, and moms are excited to discover fashion-forward and hard-to-find styles that also, by the way, are completely “green.”

About GreenEdge Kids
GreenEdge Kids was launched by Annie and Jim Kaskade, two entrepreneurial parents who wanted to make it easier for other like-minded parents to buy green clothing for their kids – without sacrificing style. GreenEdge Kids has a deep commitment to environment, not just in the level of sustainability in the clothing it sells, but in all of its business practices. GreenEdge Kids already reduces its consumption of resources wherever possible, choosing to reuse and use less at every opportunity, be it paper at the printer, boxes and packing materials, or energy. Recycled paper, hemp paper, and soy inks are used exclusively for office products – even the checks. Most recently, GreenEdge Kids purchased carbon offsets from Native Energy to create a net zero climate impact - yet another step toward making GreenEdge Kids truly green, from the inside out.

Destiny

I'm a big believer in six degrees of separation and in destiny and que sera, sera.

My kids go to a preschool and we all made friends with a great family whose kids also go there. They are neighbors with another family, who also has kids our kids' age. A separate family we have known a long time knows these neighbor guys too, through work. I had been thinking for a long time I should sometime make an effort to get to know them since we keep circling around each other...and then the mom shows up at my book club - a third completely different circle. There is a reason I need to know this mom, I am certain....haven't figured out what it is yet, but I will.

I was working on water facilities planning at a consulting company after my second son was born. Always exhausted, and never feeling like a devoted enough mom, and never feeling successful at work, after 18 months I finally gave up. I wasn't getting anything out of it worth all the stress. But how did I go from there to here? GreenEdge Kids is much more fun, more gratifying, more flexible, and somehow...strangely...more me. Only certain stars could align - I know that too.

One of my good friends is a yoga teacher and she told me about how she found the yoga studio where she now teaches. It has a top-notch reputation (and let me tell you, in Encinitas, California yoga studios are a dime a dozen so it has to really be a good place), but my friend was new to the area and she didn't know that. It's located in a secluded commercial mall that you can't possibly see from the street, and where a yoga studio is the last kind of business you'd expect to see. One day soon after my friend moved here, she was driving around and happened to notice a tiny sign for the studio, and for some odd reason she followed it. She met the owner and found out they had been looking all over for a Kundalini teacher and they hadn't been able to find one - until she drove right up to the door.

Why do things happen the way they do? How do we make the right decision or know we're doing the right thing? Who knows. Perhaps we need to spend less time asking these kinds of questions, and more time just appreciating the now...and marvel at the way the stars really do seem to align sometimes.
